Dr. Bettina Lehnert

Dr. Bettina Lehnert is a Harvard trained psychologist in private practice since 1991 who has been practicing in Scottsdale since 1997. Dr. Lehnert is licensed in Arizona and California. She enjoys working with people facing a wide range of challenges. Dr. Lehnert frequently works with couples, individuals and families on their relationship issues, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and upsetting events, and helps people get past stuck points in their lives. She focuses her practice on identifying and overcoming challenges which are preventing people from living a more happy, fulfilled life. Dr. Lehnert is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy and often utilizes this therapeutic tool for the treatment of upsetting events and negative thoughts or beliefs that are currently getting in the way of her patients functioning as they would like to.

Before moving to Scottsdale, Dr. Lehnert was a consulting psychologist for a residential treatment center for children in Boston.

Dr. Lehnert worked and trained in Harvard Medical School training hospitals. Dr. Lehnert served as a staff psychologist at McLean Hospital and a Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School for three years following her training there.

She completed an internship in Child and Adult Psychology at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Mental Health Center and a two year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychology at Harvard Medical School Training Hospital, McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts.

Dr. Lehnert grew up in Southern California. She received her Bachelor’s (cum laude) from University of California, Irvine in 1985 and earned her PhD in clinical psychology in 1990 at the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles. She completed her clinical training in Los Angeles and Boston. As part of her training, she also worked in a university counseling center at UC Irvine, in California and a child guidance clinic in Los Angeles before completing her internship and post-doctoral fellowships in Boston.

Dr. Lehnert is the mother of two children and leads an active and healthy lifestyle.
